Dr. Jaime Cidro appointed AVP, Research and Innovation at UWinnipeg

The University of Winnipeg has appointed Dr. Jaime Cidro to the role of Associate Vice-President, Research and Innovation. The new position will support the continuing success of UWinnipeg’s research program and strengthen the Research Office’s support to faculty while helping develop new policies.

Dr. Cidro is an accomplished researcher whose experience and talents will significantly enhance our ability to support faculty success.

In her new role, Dr. Cidro will also develop and implement Indigenous research protocols; be accountable for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion within the research ecosystem; and work to enhance the broader community’s understanding of the research taking place at UWinnipeg.

Dr. Cidro came to the University of Winnipeg in 2011. She is a professor in the Department of Anthropology and is director of the Master’s in Development Practice (MDP) program. She is also a CIHR-funded Canada Research Chair in Health and Culture and the Co-Director of the Aabijijiwan Indigenous Research Lab. Dr. Cidro has an impressive research portfolio and incorporates numerous graduate students into her projects. She takes a collaborative approach to her research, much of which is focused on Indigenous maternal and child health, and partners with many Indigenous organizations and communities throughout her projects.
