The University of Winnipeg is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tabitha Wood (she/her) as Dean of the Faculty of Science, effective July 1, 2026.

Dr. Wood has served as Acting Dean since July 2025. Prior to stepping in as Acting Dean, she served as Associate Dean of Science and Acting Associate Dean of Science. An Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Winnipeg, she holds a Bachelor of Science from UWinnipeg and a PhD in Chemistry from Dalhousie University. Her research focuses on developing new methods in organic synthetic chemistry to create molecules with potential therapeutic applications while reducing chemical waste. Through her research program, she has provided many students with their first opportunity to gain hands-on research experience as research assistants.

A member of the University’s Faculty of Science for more than 15 years, she has built a strong reputation as a collegial leader and mentor.

Throughout her career, Dr. Wood has supported many faculty members in their teaching and research and has inspired a passion for science among both UWinnipeg students and youth in the wider community. She has played an important role in many community engagement initiatives, including STEM Days, an annual event organized by the Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre that provides STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activities for approximately 1,000 school-aged children each year.

“I am thrilled to have Dr. Wood join our senior administration team,” said Dr. Pavlina Radia, Provost and Vice-President, Academic. She has made many invaluable contributions to the Faculty of Science and the University over the years. I look forward to continuing working with Dr. Wood.
