Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hosts town hall at UWinnipeg

The University of Winnipeg community had the chance to hear from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as Winnipeg North MP Kevin Lamoureux and Saint Boniface—Saint Vital MP Dan Vandal, during a special public town hall last Wednesday, May 24 at the Duckworth Centre. The University also thanks Winnipeg South MP Terry Duguid for supporting this event.

Prime Minister Trudeau was in the city to announce Winnipeg will be the site of the Canada Water Agency headquarters. He also met with Indigenous students at The Forks.

Sandra DeLaronde, UWinnipeg Honorary Doctor of Laws recipient, opened the town hall with a prayer. She was followed by MP Lamoureux and MP Vandal, who both provided remarks before welcoming the Prime Minister.

Over the course of the two-hour town hall, the Prime Minister answered questions about a wide range of issues facing Canadians, including climate change, the war in Ukraine, immigration, affordable housing, advancing mental health supports, reconciliation, protecting 2SLGBTQ+ rights, and addressing homelessness.
