Chelsea Caldwell is a graduate of the Human Rights and Global Studies program at Global College and has been an active human rights champion since high school. She has earned several notable human rights awards including the Annual Sybil Shack Human Rights Youth Award and was selected for a prestigious internship with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF’s) Gender and Rights Section of the Programme Division.
Caldwell is currently enrolled in her final year of the Juris Doctor program at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. During her time at UWinnipeg Caldwell took several religion and culture classes and talks about how that has enhanced her understanding of other cultures and how it has been a strong asset to her education at Osgoode Hall.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Caldwell graduated as a Student of Distinction with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg in 2014. She minored in Conflict Resolution while completing four classes in Religion & Culture, including the Bordeaux Field Study Program (2013). While at UWinnipeg, Caldwell worked as a Student Ambassador (2011-2014) and as a Marking Assistant (2014). She also served as the Status of Women Director, on the University of Winnipeg Students’ Association Board of Directors (2011-2012) and as the Student Representative on the Global College Advisory Council (2012-2013). Caldwell has worked with UNICEF regional offices in Geneva and Bangkok, and is currently interning with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. After graduation, Caldwell plans to complete her articles with the Department of Justice in Ottawa.
