The University of Winnipeg will be closed on Friday, November 11th in honour of Remembrance Day.

There are many ways to honour Canada’s veterans on this day. Winnipeg’s largest public Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre at 10:40 a.m. Smaller ceremonies will be held at various locations throughout the city by branches of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Veterans Affairs Canada has compiled a list of ways to remember, including wearing a poppy and pausing for two minutes of silence at 11:00 a.m. You can also visit the Government of Canada website to learn about the contributions of Indigenous veterans and the numerous challenges they had to overcome.

Campus buildings will be locked for the closure on Friday, November 11th, including the UWinnipeg Library and the Axworthy Health and RecPlex.

Elements Restaurant will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
