WINNIPEG, MB – Everyone is welcome to the 8th Annual Heads Up Dinner and Auction, Wednesday, June 1st, 2011 – a fundraiser for the Manitoba Brain Injury Association (MBIA) and The University of Winnipeg Athletic Therapy Students’ Association (WATSA). All proceeds from the Heads Up Dinner and Auction are divided equally between MBIA and WATSA. Well over $100,000 has been raised through the last seven dinner auctions!
The evening’s highlight is the LIVE auction of signed, professional, game-worn helmets, and other sports memorabilia donated by teams and athletes. The helmets are the `heads up’ in promoting the prevention and care of brain injuries. Previous auctions have included autographed helmets from the Women’s Olympic Gold Medal Hockey Team, Skeleton gold medalist, Jon Montgomery, and Chicago Blackhawks’ captain, Jonathan Toews – last year’s Stanley Cup Winners!
You can also win live auction, silent auction and raffle prizes, ranging from bicycles, WestJet Tickets and spa gift baskets to fine art and hand-made quilts – so there is something for everyone’s taste – including the exquisite dinner by UWinnipeg’s award-winning Diversity Foods!
The Heads Up guest speaker is Kerry Goulet, of the “Play it Cool” hockey program, which is dedicated to reducing risks in minor hockey by raising awareness about spinal cord injury and concussions.
