WINNIPEG, MB – Everyone is welcome to the 9th Annual Heads Up Dinner and Auction, Wednesday, May 30th, 2012 – a fundraiser for the Manitoba Brain Injury Association (MBIA) and The University of Winnipeg Athletic Therapy Students’ Association (WATSA). All proceeds from the Heads Up Dinner and Auction are divided equally between MBIA and WATSA. Well over $100,000 has been raised through the last eight dinner auctions!
The evening’s highlight is the LIVE auction of signed, professional, game-worn helmets, and other sports memorabilia donated by teams and athletes. The helmets are the `heads up’ in promoting the prevention and care of brain injuries. Previous auctions have included autographed helmets from the Women’s Olympic Gold Medal Hockey Team, Skeleton gold medalist, Jon Montgomery, and Chicago Blackhawks’ captain, Jonathan Toews, and the Vancouver Canuck’s Sedin Brothers!
You can also win live auction, silent auction and raffle prizes, ranging from bicycles, WestJet Tickets (2 tickets to anywhere WestJet flies!), fine art and hand-made quilts – so there is something for everyone’s taste – including the exquisite dinner by UWinnipeg’s award-winning Diversity Foods!
This year’s speakers will be Dr. Michael West who will introduce you to the latest technique of non-invasive brain surgery using the Gamma Knife (Amazing!!). You will also hear about a medical emergency on a ski hill managed by Ashleigh Sprange, one of our graduates and previous scholarship winners.
