WINNIPEG, MB – Today, The University of Winnipeg unveiled the Stars of Spence Street Prize Bench that honours past recipients of this prize and will continue to honour future winners.
The Stars of Spence Street recognizes some of the unsung heroes on campus. The late Judy Dyck, former UWinnipeg Director of the Awards and Financial Aid Office, was the inaugural recipient of this award and this year it is Lois Martin, Coordinator of Domestic Admissions. Both these winners now have their personally engraved stars on the bench.
Martin has worked at UWinnipeg for almost 27 years, most recently as Coordinator of Domestic Admissions. Her character and devotion has established strong bonds and mutually respectful relationships with her colleagues, who are entertained by her dry wit.
Dyck’s service to UWinnipeg spanned more than 30 years. She served in many roles, most notably as Director of the Awards and Financial Aid Office. She was renowned for her leadership and active engagement with students, as well as for her breadth of knowledge and expertise on student financial matters.
The Stars of Spence Street Prize has been created to recognize UWinnipeg employees with a long history of dedicated service, a passion for student learning, and a demonstrated commitment to supporting students in achieving their educational goals.
