Golden Key International Honour Society has awarded UWinnipeg student Nils Deppe the Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship valued at $5000. Deppe graduated last year with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Physics (Honours). He is currently attending Cornell University where he is working on his PhD. He also recently co-authored  a paper  with UWinnipeg physics professors Dr. Andrew Frey and Dr. Gabor Kunstatter and fellow student Allison Kolly that was published in Physical Review Letters (PRL).

“Winning an Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship is an honour,” expressed Deppe. “Such an award is much more than financial aid enabling me to continue pursuing my academic goals. It also demonstrates trust and confidence in the ability of the recipient, which provides motivation, incentive, and a sense of belonging. I must thank the wonderful professors I have had over the years at The University of Winnipeg, especially Dr. Gabor Kunstatter and Dr. Andrew Frey. They have provided a lot of support and guidance over the years for which I cannot thank them enough.”

Golden Key believes in the investment of the education of high achieving students and commits to award more than $1 million annually to their deserving membership.

“It is an honor to present Nils with our Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship,” said Brad Rainey, Golden Key Executive Director. “Our members are inspired and motivated not only to achieve exceptional academic accomplishments, but also to make a positive impact on our world through the Society’s commitment to service.”

Succeeding in higher education and helping students reach their potential is at the core of Golden Key’s mission.  They created the Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship to assist in the costs of higher education. This scholarship recognizes undergraduate members for outstanding commitment to the Golden Key pillars of academics, leadership and service.

Golden Key is the world’s largest honor society, with over 2 million members and over 400 chapters around the world. While membership in Golden Key begins with academic excellence, the Society’s core mission is to enable members to realize their potential through three pillars: academics, leadership and service.
