UWinnipeg’s Professor Dr. Pauline Greenhill’s (Women and Gender Studies) essay collection, Channeling Wonder: Fairy Tales on Television was unanimously selected by the members of the Children’s Literature Association Edited Book Award Committee to receive the 2014 Recommended Title award. The Edited Book Awards are given annually by the Children’s Literature Association (ChLA) to recognize the contributions of outstanding edited collections of essays in children’s literature history, scholarship, and criticism.
Greenhill’s collection, chosen from almost 40 essay collections under consideration, stood out for ‘its breadth of scholarship, contribution to the discipline, and fine quality of the editorial work’.
“Co-editor Jill Rudy (Brigham Young University, USA) and I, along with all the contributors, are thrilled to be honoured by the Children’s Literature Association, and particularly to be recognised specifically as an edited book,” shared Greenhill. “As the ChLA understands, such works are a special kind of task, involving such extensive collaboration with a wide variety of scholars. I’m particularly happy to share this award with UWinnipeg colleague contributor Dr. Steven Kohm (Criminal Justice) and with two former UWinnipeg student contributors, Kirstian Lezubski and Kendra Magnus-Johnston, both of whom graduated from the UWinnipeg’s Cultural Studies MA program.”
