Dr. Art McDonald speaks June 1 at 7:30 pm
Everyone is invited to attend a free lecture by the 2015 Nobel Prize co-winner for Physics, Dr. Art McDonald, on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the University of Winnipeg. His lecture title is “Observing the Sun from two kilometers Underground.”
Dr. McDonald is Director of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, where he studies the sub-atomic particles that are basic building blocks of the universe. His research is conducted two kilometers underground in one of INCO’s old mines. It is one of the most innovative and important scientific experiments being conducted in Canada today.

UWinnipeg Assistant Professor Dr. Blair Jamieson has a direct connection to the Sudbury research. Dr. McDonald directed Dr. Jamieson as he was researching his post doctorate at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, studying neutrino physics.
