The University of Winnipeg Alumni Council is pleased to announce Dr. Jennifer Frain as the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni award for Spring 2016. Frain graduated from The University of Winnipeg in 1983 and prior to that graduated high school at the University’s Collegiate. She went on to complete her PhD and has been a clinical psychologist for more than 20 years. Frain has long played a major role in professional associations, culminating in her election as President of the Canadian Psychological Association in 2012.
Frain has for decades been a strong voice advocating for improved access to psychological services. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of New Directions for Children, Youth, Adults, and Families, one of Manitoba’s largest and most diverse social service agencies with a history dating back more than 130 years. In this role she leads an organization that employs 900 people and provides services for thousands in and around Winnipeg.
“Dr. Frain is an excellent example of the kind of leader we often see coming out of The University of Winnipeg,” said Alumni Council President Kevin Freedman. “The University of Winnipeg Alumni Association is honoured to present Dr. Jennifer Frain with the Distinguished Alumni Award.”
Frain will receive her award and address the graduates at the University’s 2016 Spring Convocation ceremony on the morning of Friday, June 10.
