The University of Winnipeg is monitoring the current strike action by the The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) and how it relates to the applications and processing times for visas and study permits for university students coming to Canada.
- Anyone applying for a visa should anticipate delays and submit your application as far in advance as possible.
- Contingency plans are in place to ensure all offices remain open and are providing at least a minimum level of service.
- Please note the official letter of acceptance you receive from The University of Winnipeg is valid for twelve months (three Terms). If you are unable to make it here in time for the start of Fall Term (September), you can start your studies in the Winter Term (January) or the Spring Term (May) instead. Check your letter of acceptance to determine what start Terms are available to you.
Will you be starting your studies later than planned? No problem! Please contact International Student Services – iss@uwinnipeg.ca and we will update your status.
We will post updates about this situation here as warranted.
