Help support Métis students at UWinnipeg. The Manitoba Metis Federation will MATCH your donation 2 to 1.
The University of Winnipeg Foundation has just launched an exciting crowd funding campaign with the Manitoba Metis Federation. For a limited time, the Manitoba Metis Federation has offered to match all gifts in support of The Louis Riel Bursaries 2-to-1 up to $30,000.
“UWinnipeg is proud to partner with the MMF to enhance opportunities for Métis students,” says Dr. Annette Trimbee, UWinnipeg President and Vice-Chancellor. “Students who receive these awards will become our leaders of tomorrow.”
Since 1999, the Manitoba Metis Federation and its education arm, the Louis Riel Institute, have issued bursaries to Manitoba Métis students attending participating universities. At UWinnipeg, Louis Riel Bursaries are awarded to full-time entering or returning Métis students with financial need. The bursaries are a vital tool for increasing access to higher education and qualifying students can receive up to $2,500. The bursaries have been a tremendous success, with more than 70 students benefiting last year alone. We need your help to build on that success.
“We’re incredibly grateful for this partnership between The University of Winnipeg and the Manitoba Metis Federation,” says Brian Daly, President and Chief Executive Officer of The University of Winnipeg Foundation. “We look forward to seeing more deserving Métis students benefit from the financial support shared by our generous community.”
Funding Métis students through the Louis Riel Bursaries is perhaps one of the most fundamentally important things somebody can do if they’re thinking about supporting reconciliation, supporting improvement in Manitoba’s education system or supporting significant change that’s happening across the country. It’s just one of those opportunities that will really come back in so many different ways.”
Your contribution, big or small, will go a long way in helping us support Métis students at UWinnipeg.
