Celebrating the A – Z of Intellectual Enrichment

WINNIPEG, MB – Hundreds of curious high-school intellectuals from Grades 9-12 will be on campus for a week of intense study as part of UWinnipeg’s High School Enrichment Program, April 23- 27, 2012. The subjects offered this year range from alien life forms to Led Zeppelin.

UWinnipeg’s Enrichment Program – offered in cooperation with Manitoba school divisions – was created to provide promising high school students a taste of the intellectual university experience. Immersing students in a stimulating, academic setting offers encouragement for them to further their studies and intellectual growth.

“The students are motivated and refreshingly involved in the topics,” said Dr. Hinton Bradbury, Academic Director of the Enrichment Program, Professor & Chair of the Department of Psychology. “They become part of the intellectual world, and because they select their subject area of study, the students love it, which has contributed to the success of the program.”

Since 1984, more than 10,000 high school students have participated in the successful program, which gives students from across the province a glimpse into an engaging post-secondary educational experience.

Students receive one week of class experience with a university professor on a topic of the student’s choice. Personal access to professors is the key to the learning process as the class size is limited to only 20 students.
