Will Jones, a videographer in the Centre for Academic Technology at UWinnipeg, has followed up his first documentary film, Iced: The Lost History of Hockey at The University of Winnipeg,with Schmockey Night, which chronicles a quirky event that showcased the best of Winnipeg kitsch in the cause of charity.
The annual Schmockey Night lasted from 1953 to 1992 and saw Winnipeg’s media and sports teams put on a show that included athletic feats of strength and special guest celebrities entertaining Winnipeg Arena crowds with skits, music, and pies in the face.
