WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg is leading the way among post-secondary institutions in Manitoba by launching a mobile website today that allows anyone with a smart phone to surf for relevant, easy-to-digest information. Looking for a good café latte on campus? Want to check a Winnipeg transit bus schedule, a Wesmen score or find a professor’s email address? UWinnipeg’s mobile website at http://m.uwinnipeg.ca offers all this and more.
UWinnipeg’s mobile website quickly displays information including University news and events, transit information, campus maps, an online staff and faculty directory, links to social media and emergency information.
“I think the new mobile website is a fantastic tool towards making The University of Winnipeg more accessible to students,” saysLauren Bosc, President, University of Winnipeg Students’ Association. “The fact that I can find a map if I’m lost or look up the office of my prof on my phone is an efficient step to connecting more students to the services on campus.”
In addition, The University of Winnipeg’s Information, Communication & Technology Studies (ICT) has released a free iPhone app named Mobile-U. Mobile-U provides real-time class schedules and alerts, program news, and upcoming events specifically geared to ICT students. The ICT app can be downloaded for free at http://dce.UWinnipegCourses.ca/mobile
