UWinnipeg’s Fultz Wins Top 20 Under 20

fultzWINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg student, Megan Fultz has been selected to receiveone of Canada’s Annual Top 20 Under 20™ Awards created by Youth in Motion. The awards recognize and celebrate 20 young Canadians under the age of 20 for their outstanding innovation, achievement and leadership. Fultz is in Toronto today at the Award breakfast to share her story and accomplishments. She is the first Manitoba recipient in two years.

Fultz is one of UWinnipeg’s youngest students who began pursuing her BA in human rights at Global College while she was still a high school student. In high school, she was awarded the TD Scholarship for Community Leadership of $70,000 and within her first year of university, she decided that the scholarship was more than she needed, and donated generously to UWinnipeg’s Global Citizenship Fund for bursaries to assist refugee and Aboriginal students.

“Megan embodies the true meaning of ability in the face of some significant challenges,” said Marilou McPhedran, Principal of UWinnipeg’s Global College. “She was recently selected from among 1500 students, as one of two Canadians, to travel to India for Oxfam International strategy sessions. Megan is a Global College student advisor, and from what I have seen, her every action is grounded by generosity and passion for social justice, which Youth in Motion recognized in selecting her as one of Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 this year.”

Youth in Motion conducts its national search each year. Top 20 Under 20™ was created to celebrate and honour Canadians who have demonstrated significant innovation, leadership and achievement but have not yet reached the age of 20. http://www.top20under20.ca/
