Gemini Awards Recognize Two UWinnipeg Grads

WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg’s Department of Theatre and Film is proud that two recent graduates are up for 2010 Gemini Awards. The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television announced the nominations for the 25th Annual Gemini Awards in Toronto earlier this week.

Lisa Durupt (BA – Theatre, 2007), who appears in a continuing role in the HBO Canada series Less than Kind, was nominated for “Best Individual Performance in a Comedy Program or Series” for the episode “Road Trip.”

Kristopher Turner (BA Honours – Theatre, 2003) was nominated for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Guest Role, Dramatic Series” for Bloodletting Miraculous Cures for the episode “Family Practice.”

The Gemini Awards recognize the year’s best in Canadian English-language television. This year’s celebrations will be held in Toronto over three nights in November. The Industry Gala Presentations will take place on Tuesday November 2nd and Wednesday November 3rd at the Kool Haus Entertainment Complex; the Broadcast Gala will take place on Saturday November 13th at the historic Winter Garden Theatre and will be broadcast live-to-tape on Global and Showcase.
