WINNIPEG, MB – A prestigious trade publication, Design, Develop, Construct Journal (DDC Journal) has featured The University of Winnipeg’s campus expansion in its special feature on green schools in the education sector. The University of Winnipeg was one of only two Canadian institutions among the 17 schools recognized. The feature article on UWinnipeg was particularly focused on the University’s role in fostering community development along with environmental sustainability.
Trend for Positive Community Initiatives
“The University is pursuing an integrated approach to development which is attempting to meet both the needs of the campus community and our surrounding neighbours,” explained Sherman Kreiner, Managing Director, University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation, the University’s development arm. “For example, our new residence will provide dorm rooms for students and two and three-bedroom townhouses for community residents. Being recognized by DDC Journal is an example of how our Univeristy can set the trend for positive community initiatives during a time of growth and expansion.”
