WINNIPEG, MB – What qualities make a good leader? What unique challenges do business leaders today face? How can local executives learn from and share their unique successes and challenges and stay on top of leadership trends?
A day-long symposium dedicated to Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today, co-hosted by The University of Winnipeg’s Faculty of Business and Economics, the Conference Board of Canada and its affiliate, the Niagara Institute, will explore a range of leadership topics aimed at creating a climate of dialogue among Prairie-based CEOs, managers and entrepreneurs.
“There is much we can learn from each other about what constitutes leadership success,” said Dr. Sylvie Albert, UWinnipeg’s Dean of Business and Economics. Echoing the dean’s comments Ross Roxburgh, Executive Director of the Niagara Institute, emphasized that “the day will provide ample opportunity for idea generation and sharing that will relate directly to the realities and opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders within the broader prairie region.”
Two well-known Manitoba entrepreneurs will share their insights during an informal lunch hour fireside chat: Mark Chipman, Chair of True North Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Winnipeg Jets and the MTS Centre; and Paul Soubry, President and CEO of new Flyer,
the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty buses in the U.S. and Canada.
During the Symposium, the Conference Board of Canada will provide an overview of the top challenges facing Canadian and global leaders stemming from their research report, the CEO Challenge 2013 and upcoming reports, Leadership Development Practices and Learning and Development Outlook 2013.
