UWinnipeg gears up to celebrate at Homecoming 2024
The University of Winnipeg along with Alumni Affairs is excited to announce this year’s Homecoming 2024, a week of on- and off-campus events for UWinnipeg alumni, family, and friends.
While Homecoming is an opportunity for alumni to gather and stay connected, this year’s events are diverse and open to the public. Some activities over the week include:
- Wesmen Alumni Nights: 3 on 3 Basketball & Volleyball
- Stories from the Heart: Alumni Filmmakers on the World Stage with Sonya Ballantyne (BA 14), Ian Bawa (BA 08) and moderated by Charlene Moore (BA 18, MA 22)
- Classes of 1969 to 1974 Reunion Luncheon
- Campus Walking Tour
Homecoming 2024 will conclude with an Alumni Night with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday, September 27. Alumni, family, and friends will cheer on the Blue Bombers as they take on the Edmonton Elks at Princess Auto Stadium. Tickets are sold out.
Homecoming 2024 will run from Monday September 23 to Friday, September 27.

Tuesday, September 24: Wesmen Basketball Alumni Night
Wednesday, September 25: Wesmen Volleyball Alumni Night
When: 7 to 9 p.m. | Where: Duckworth Centre, 380 Young Street | Admission: Free
Reconnect with some friendly 3 on 3 basketball or volleyball competitions with former athletes. Enjoy games, food, drinks, and camaraderie with current and former Wesmen athletes.
Thursday, September 26
Stories from the Heart: Alumni Filmmakers on the World Stage
When: Reception 5 to 6 p.m., Panel Discussion 6 to 7 p.m. | Where: Convocation Hall & Tony’s Canteen, 515 Portage Avenue | Admission: Free
Have you ever wondered how filmmakers bring their ideas to life on the big screen? Stories from the Heart features the work of UWinnipeg alumni filmmakers Sonya Ballantyne (BA 14) and Ian Bawa (BA 08). Filmmaker Charlene Moore (BA 18, MA 22) will moderate this engaging discussion reflecting on how these filmmakers’ experiences at The University of Winnipeg helped to define what matters to them and why; how they learned to turn their ideas into action; and what they are looking forward to in the years to come.

Class of 1969 and 1974 Luncheon
When: 12:30 to 2 p.m. | Where: Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex, 599 Portage Avenue | Admission: Free
The University of Winnipeg, together with the Classes of 69 and 74, invite all graduates from the years 1969 to 1974 and their guests to an informal lunch reception at the Richardson College of the Environment and Science Complex.

Campus Walking Tour
When: 2 p.m. | Where: Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex, 599 Portage Avenue | Admission: Free
Take a walk down memory lane and see what’s new on campus with this special Campus Walking Tour. Stops will include The Axworthy RecPlex, Duckworth Centre, Gallery 1C03, Leatherdale Hall, Tony’s Canteen, Wesley Hall and Bryce Hall. Meet inside the front doors of Richardson College of the Environment and Science Complex. Be sure to wear comfortable footwear!

UWinnipeg Alumni Night with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
When: 5 p.m. Tailgate party, 7 p.m. Kickoff | Where: Princess Auto Stadium, 315 Chancellor Matheson Road | Admission: $30 per person
Experience the ultimate night out with your UWinnipeg Alumni and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as we cap off a great week of Homecoming 2024. We invite you to Princess Auto Stadium as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers take on the Edmonton Elks. Enjoy live music and pre-game with fellow alumni, family, and friends under the UWinnipeg Cabana in the tailgate area. Ticket includes entry to the pre-game tailgate party, stadium seating (Section 101), and a gift card for food, beverage, or merchandise. Ticket holders must be at the tailgate party to pick up your food and beverage gift card and giveaways. Game day e-tickets will be transferred upon confirmed registration. Advance registration is required.
