The University of Winnipeg mourns the loss of the Honorable Nello Altomare. A dedicated school principal before being elected as an MLA in 2019, Minister Altomare was deeply admired for his steadfast commitment to improving lives through public education.
His work as Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning, including the introduction of our province’s universal school nutrition program, will continue to have a positive impact on young Manitobans for years to come.
A UWinnipeg alumnus, Minister Altomare completed two degrees at the University, a Bachelor of Education in 1986 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1990.
In honour of Minister Altomare, the University will fly its campus flags at half-mast on Friday, January 17.
