The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 class, and it includes athletes and colleagues across playing fields and disciplines. Among the inductees is the University of Winnipeg’s Dr. Glen Bergeron.
“I am truly honoured by this nomination especially given that two of the nominators were for former UWinnipeg basketball players Karen Ridd and Ken Opalko as well as our team Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Bert Longstaffe,” shared Dr. Bergeron. “They and so many others have made this fulfilling and memorable journey possible. I am indebted to The University of Winnipeg for all the support and confidence.
The inductees are inspirations in so many ways, as athletes or builders in sport of course, but above all, as wonderful people who chose to dedicate themselves to making a real difference.

Other inductees include CFL’s all-star and iconic Winnipeg Blue Bomber Troy Westwood, softball pitcher Ashley Lanz, Olympian and university volleyball coach Russ Paddock, builder Col. Gary Solar and the championship-winning 1987 Lucania Football Club soccer team.
“The inductees are inspirations in so many ways, as athletes or builders in sport of course, but above all, as wonderful people who chose to dedicate themselves to making a real difference,” said Jeff Palamar and Don MacDonald, Co-Chairs of the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.
Dr. Bergeron has influenced countless athletes and practitioners through his care, innovation, and dedication to education. Besides being a distinguished faculty member in the Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health at UWinnipeg, Dr. Bergeron is the face of Athletic Therapy at UWinnipeg.
Dr. Bergeron is specialized in the treatment of back and neck pain and nationally recognized for his research on the treatment of acute and persistent post-concussion symptoms.
His commitment for treating injuries has allowed Athletic Therapy to become a permanent fixture on campus and led to improved recognition of the profession in Winnipeg and across Canada.
Dr. Bergeron and his fellow inductees will be honored at a ceremony on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg.
