Chemistry department celebrates student excellence

Students and faculty in UWinnipeg’s Department of Chemistry gathered on Friday, February 6 for the annual Chemistry Awards celebration.

Chemistry scholarships are awarded annually to students with outstanding academic records in the fields of chemistry or biochemistry.

Twelve outstanding students were recognized for their academic excellence at this year’s awards event. 

A handful of the award recipients present received multiple awards, including Kurtis Boily and Gabrielle Martin.

Boily received a Chemistry Faculty Award, the Molly Rogers Brickman & Leo Brickman Scholarship in Chemistry, the George Tomlinson Scholarship in Biochemistry, and the Ingrid and Klaus Philipp Scholarship in Chemistry.

Martin received a Biochemistry Faculty Award, the Klaus and Ingrid Philipp Scholarship in Biochemistry, and the Philipp Scholarship.

Other students awarded included Marie Alcantara, Prerna Dhillon, Maleena Grewal, Kiersten Hiebert, Christopher Hermann, Ahmed Kasem, Simarpreet Kaur, Leiva Mann, Chiara Martin, and Sahilpreet Singh.
