UW RELEASE – 2014/021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 14, 2014
WINNIPEG, MB – Downtown Winnipeg has historically had a reputation for quieting down after hours, but that’s far from the story tonight as SNOWED IN hits Portage Place Mall. Starting at 10 pm this evening, students and guests will meet under the clock tower in the mall’s Edmonton Court to kick off the start of Reading Week with the help of Halifax-based producer and DJ Ryan Hemsworth, and special guests AudioOpera, SMRT, and Surprise Party.
“Downtown Winnipeg has benefitted tremendously from the nearly 20,000 adult learners in the community, and this is another example of how students are contributing to a 24-hour vibrant downtown,” says Jino Distasio, UWinnipeg’s Associate Vice-President of Research and Innovation, and Director of the Institute of Urban Studies.
SNOWED IN is open to students and members of the public aged 18+ (with valid photo ID.) Admission is free with UWinnipeg student card, and costs $20.00 for non-students. Enter at Portage Place’s Edmonton Street doors, or through the underground parkade. You can find more information about this event and Hemsworth’s music by visiting the UWSA’s SNOWED IN 2014 event page on Facebook.
