University of Winnipeg Dedicates The Legacy Circle Garden

WINNIPEG, MB – As part of The University of Winnipeg’s 40th Anniversary Celebrations, The University of Winnipeg Foundation’s Gift Planning Committee Chair Dr. W. John A. Bulman, joined by members of the University community, today dedicated The Legacy Circle Garden within the new Portage Commons. The opening of the new Legacy Circle Garden is an expression of appreciation to the University’s Legacy Circle Members.

“The Legacy Circle Garden serves as a reminder and symbol for Faculty, Staff, Students and the community of the commitment and generosity of our donors to ensuring that our University continues to grow and move confidently forward,” said University of Winnipeg President & Vice-Chancellor Lloyd Axworthy. “Through planned gifts by Legacy Circle Members, we know that our capacity to support excellence and accessibility in education will be enhanced and that we have the ability to draw on these gifts for thoughtful future development.”

“The commitment of our Legacy Circle Members, in planning now to create legacies for the future, sets a wonderful example of how alumni and friends can support The University of Winnipeg and its Collegiate,” said Bulman. “We are delighted that this Garden will serve as a permanent tribute to our donors who value all that this University has to offer its students and the community.”

Among those joining Dr. Bulman in expressing appreciation to donors were Dr. Brian Stevenson, Vice-President Academic, and University of Winnipeg Student Association President David Jacks.

“We invite other alumni and members of our community to become Legacy Circle Members by including a bequest in their wills and planning ahead to make their legacy gifts to the University,” said University of Winnipeg Foundation President & CEO Susan Thompson. “Joining the Legacy Circle brings with it an opportunity not only for donors to build legacies that can have significant impact in years to come, but also to stay well informed and to connect with like-minded individuals who share a deep commitment to higher education.”

The University and its Foundation invite Legacy Circle Members to share in the celebrations of the University’s achievements and to join in various functions and annual gatherings of Legacy Circle Members.

To become a Member of The Legacy Circle, donors may simply notify The University of Winnipeg Foundation about their future gift intentions and request assistance and information to establish a bequest.
