Chantal Kreviazuk (Collegiate Class of ’90)
Net proceeds of the Chantal Kreviazuk concert on Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Centennial Concert Hall will go to launch The University of Winnipeg’s “Opportunity Fund” – an innovative fund that will help inner-city children and youth attend The University of Winnipeg.

Chantal Kreviazuk (Collegiate Class of ’90) is on a cross-Canada tour n support of her album “Ghost Stories” which is in heavy rotation on most North American radio stations. Raine Maida, lead singer of the band Our Lady Peace and Kreviazuk’s husband, will open the show making for a truly unforgettable evening! Chantal and Raine’s generous donation will help to open up opportunities for students who until now could only dream of post-secondary education – including youth from inner-city neighbourhoods, Aboriginal students, and young people from war-affected nations and refugee populations.
What is unique about the Opportunity Fund is that when an inner-city student successfully completes an academic year or participates in an extra-curricular activity – they earn tuition credits for The University of Winnipeg. By the time these students graduate – they will have the funds necessary to achieve a post-secondary education. The Opportunity Fund will also augment traditional bursaries and scholarships by covering other critical needs such as emergency childcare, food, and shelter that can mean the difference between leaving University and graduating with a degree.
