On Friday, June 30, 2006, President Lloyd Axworthy hosted a Canada Day Picnic to celebrate Canada’s birthday with faculty, staff, students, their families, University friends, associates, and community neighbours. Free refreshments were served, including hot dogs, veggie dogs, and drinks and prizes were awarded for the best Celebrate Canada Day costumes. Festivities included musical entertainment, clowns, face painting, balloon sculpting, and cultural displays by the Manitoba Living History Society. As well, The University’s Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre, 509-511 Ellice Avenue, hosted an Open House with traditional Aboriginal storytellers, a giant chess game, and children’s activities.
Thanks to all the faculty and staff who helped make this event a success!
