A Compass for Campus Learning @ UWinnipeg

big-day 2011WINNIPEG, MB – First-year university students seeking guidance on their post-secondary path can get direction at UWinnipeg’s 2011 Student Orientation that runs September 6 – 9, 2011. Orientation is a great first step for new students to get their bearings at The University of Winnipeg.

A key event at Orientation is The Really Big Day, Tuesday, September 6, 2011 that began at  9:00am and continues till 7:00pm. The Really Big Day is filled with important information sessions and fun activities that give students essential advice on how to survive and thrive as a first-year-university student that includes a personal welcome from Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, UWinnipeg President and Vice-Chancellor and tours of the campus.

Students learn about the campus and the services offered, and they can meet professors and familiarize themselves on how to get around the university.

The Really Big Day begins with the Big Day Breakfast, a free continental breakfast and great entertainment at the Duckworth Centre that is followed by information sessions and The MTS Free Pizza Lunch in Riddell Hall.

There are also information sessions geared to adult learners, Aboriginal students, international students and students in residence.

Orientation 2011 is an excellent way to get to know the University – the great professors, students, staff, services, campus, and atmosphere that makes UWinnipeg unique. Although participation is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged.
