A Former Editor of Globe & Mail at UWinnipeg

WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg presents well-known commentator and author Dr. Doug Goold, former Editor of The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business and Report on Business Magazine. Goold speaks at UWinnipeg on Canada and India: The Future of Business and Global Politics on two occasions on Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Everyone is welcome and there is no admission.

Bestselling Author
Goold is the co-author of Peace Without Promise, a book on the peace settlements after the First World War and The Bre-X Fraud, a national number one bestseller. He is Senior Editor of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and this past spring he completed a year as Senior Fellow with the Canadian International Council. Prior to that, Goold served as President of the CIC and its predecessor organization, the Canadian Institute of International Affairs.

He recently completed a study for the CIC entitled, “Doing Business in India: Success, Failure and the Prospects for Canada,” which is scheduled to be published within the next few weeks. This past spring, Goold appeared before the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs on the rise of Russia, India and China. He also contributed a chapter on South Asia for the book entitled Canada’s National Security: Strategy, Interests and Threats, to be published by University of Toronto Press.

Goold has a PhD in modern history from St. John’s College, Cambridge. He completed his two Killam Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University of British Columbia. Goold has taught at the Universities of Alberta and Victoria.
