WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg’s newest graduate program, a Masters in Management with a specialization in Technology, Innovation and Operations (MiM) is now underway with 13 students enrolled.
This industry-driven graduate degree focuses on developing critical thinkers at a senior management level and is aimed at professionals who are seeking additional management credentials.
In collaboration with local industry, UWinnipeg’s Department of Business & Administration delivers the program online and in-class, to align with the needs of working professionals. Students began and will finish with a two-week-long classroom experience. The remaining courses are offered online throughout the year.
For Darren Lodge, a 47-year old Vice-President with Customs Castings Ltd. who enrolled in the program, it is an ideal way to obtain a Masters degree.
“Being able to do much of the work on-line in my own time is much less disruptive to my everyday work flow, and yet I still have the in-person connections through our compressed classroom experience,” he says. Lodge says he is already using new skills that he’s learning from the program. “A degree like this allows me to apply, in a really practical way, new knowledge and skills immediately. It will allow me to take new responsibilities in my career.”
Few programs like MiM exist in Canada, and there is presently no other graduate degree in the country that focuses on the blend of technology, innovation and operations management. The MiM is also the first hybrid online and in-class program at the master’s level in Manitoba.
