UWinnipeg is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Chantal Fiola (she/her) as Interim Associate Vice-President, Indigenous, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Fiola is Michif (Red River Métis), a registered citizen of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), and a founding member of the Two-Spirit Michif Local of the MMF.
UWinnipeg's Dr. Renée Douville and collaborators Dr. Jody Haigh, University of Manitoba, and Dr. Domenico Di Curzio, St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre, received a $125,000 Discovery Grant from the ALS Society of Canada and Brain Canada to further their ALS research.
Two accomplished UWinnipeg students – Jenna Allison and Liam Reid – are the recipients of the $9,000 Sir William Stephenson Scholarship this academic year. In addition to their outstanding academic success, they have also demonstrated superior leadership qualities through volunteering and the potential to make valuable contributions to their community.
