Campus Update On COVID-19 response

In keeping with federal and provincial health guidelines for COVID-19 and public health requests to reduce large-group interactions, The University of Winnipeg has chosen to postpone three upcoming events: the Awards Night of Excellence (Thursday, March 19), Graduation Pow Wow (Saturday, March 21), and Spring Feast (Friday, March 27). All participants will be directly advised of potential rescheduling.

The decision to postpone these events is informed by Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) guidelines to reduce COVID-19 risk by considering social distancing strategies and reconsidering non-essential mass gatherings. We are also conscious of the fact that our events may include guests who travel from afar, as well as community members who may be more vulnerable to the health risks associated with COVID-19.

At this time, we ask faculty and staff to postpone all university-related non-essential travel.

Fortunately, UWinnipeg is nearing the end of term, April 3. We are working collaboratively with faculty and actively planning for how we can support students to complete their course of study, as appropriate.

The University of Winnipeg prioritizes the safety of its students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus. We will continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation closely, and will promptly communicate any further scheduling changes.
