Chopin Concert in Historic Convocation Hall

Virtuosi Concerts invites you to attend a very special concert to celebrate the restoration of Convocation Hall at The University of Winnipeg. The hall has been restored to its 1898 splendour and has earned The University of Winnipeg the Heritage Winnipeg Preservation Award of Excellence. In addition, the University has recently acquired, through generous donors, a Kawai grand piano for Convocation Hall. This will be the inaugural concert on the new piano.

On Saturday, November 27th, 2010 at 8:00 PM in Convocation Hall, pianist Alexander Tselyakov will perform the complete Chopin Etudes—the first time all 24 etudes have been performed in Winnipeg. Dr.Tselyakov was trained in Russia and he is presently Professor of Piano at Brandon University. Immediately after this concert he will be recording a landmark CD of the complete etudes in honour of the 200th anniversary of Chopin’s birth.

All funds raised from this event will support Virtuosi Concerts, Winnipeg’s pre-eminent recital and chamber music series, now enjoying its 20th Anniversary Season.

Advance tickets are going quickly but there is still good seating available on the main floor and in the balcony.
