On January 17, 2011, the University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA) will hold its bi-annual Student Group Fair at the Duckworth 2nd Floor Lounge. Over 20 student groups will be present, promoting their groups’ activities and initiatives, while recruiting new members and volunteers.
Free food, refreshments, and popcorn served by our very own Wesmen mascot will be offered to those in attendance. Students who visit at least five different student groups will be entered in a draw to win a free iPod touch!
“The Winter Student Group Fair hopes to give students a warm introduction to student life on campus,” said Lana Hastings, UWSA Vice-President Student Services. “Students will get a chance to meet and interact with their peers and contribute to student activities on campus.”
The President’s taskforce on First Year Curriculum identified the need for student groups on campus, as approximately 25% of students drop out of university when they are not connected to student groups and student life on campus.
The UWSA hopes that students will attend the Winter Student Group Fair, and encourages them to join or even lead a student group of their own.
