I am pleased to announce that Danielle Dunbar will be promoted to Vice-President, University Advancement, effective August 1, in recognition of a significant expansion in her responsibilities to include liaising and collaborating with the University of Winnipeg Foundation.
Danielle has served as Associate Vice-President, Engagement since June 5, 2023. She will continue to oversee Marketing and Communications, Government Relations, Events, and Alumni Affairs.
Danielle possesses an extensive and diverse background in the areas of advancement, alumni relations, fundraising, communications, and development.
Prior to joining The University of Winnipeg, Danielle served as Associate Vice-President, Advancement, as well as Chief Development Officer, at the University of Saskatchewan where she was responsible for restructuring advancement strategies, creating a high-functioning and collaborative team, refreshing the institutional brand to align with its priorities and place, and building and strengthening external relationships with more than 160,000 alumni and Indigenous and community partners.
Danielle joined the University of Saskatchewan after working as Executive Director, Alumni and Advancement, and Acting Associate Vice-President, Alumni and Donor Relations, at the University of Manitoba. While serving in these roles, she worked very closely with senior leadership, deans, and department heads to establish and align priorities with philanthropic opportunities. Her deep roots, engaging style, and authentic connections to Manitoba and Winnipeg communities were showcased by her role in the University of Manitoba’s successful $500 million fundraising campaign.
Danielle holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Recreation Management, a Certified Fundraising Executive Designation, and a Master of Arts in Leadership, specializing in Executive Leadership, from Royal Roads University.
I am confident that, with her experience, leadership qualities, and collaborative style, Danielle will continue to excel in leading advancement activities for the University.
Please join me in congratulating Danielle on her appointment.
