He was also instrumental in the comprehensive redesign of doctoral education in the Faculty of Humanities.

He assisted in drafting his department’s statement on diversity and inclusion and continues to work with Oslo’s wider musical community on these issues. He has also taught numerous courses and supervised dozens of theses.

Dr. Devine is an award-winning author and editor of books on the political economy and political ecology of culture. His next book is about how the music industries are transforming themselves in response to climate crisis. It will be published by Verso in 2025. Dr. Devine is internationally recognized for his work on the environmental situation of music, featuring regularly in the media and serving in a number of advisory roles. For example, he is the Lead Expert in Greening the Music Industry at EarthPercent, a climate charity cofounded by Brian Eno.

“Kyle brings a strong record of academic leadership and a passion for graduate education,” said Dr. Pavlina Radia, Provost and Vice-President, Academic. “We are looking forward to having him join our team in January and working together to further advance our excellent graduate programs.”

The current Acting Dean of Graduate Studies, Dr. Manish Pandey, will resume his role as Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics on January 1, 2025. “I would like to thank Dr. Manish Pandey for having served as Acting Dean of Graduate Studies since 2022,” said Dr. Radia. “Over the past year, I very much enjoyed working with Dr. Pandey and appreciated his dedication, leadership, and commitment to the role.”
