Danny Blair

Danny Blair

This year’s first annual Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series will open with professor Danny Blair’s presentation, “Prognosis Negative: Coping With Global Warming in an Age of Uncertainty.” All are welcome to attend.

Date: Wednesday, November 17, 2004
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Location: Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall

In his own words, here’s a synopsis of the research he will be discussing:

There is really no doubt that global warming is occurring, that it will continue in the decades to come, and that it is in large part being caused by human activities. However, there is much uncertainty about how rapidly it will progress and how it will vary spatially. There is also substantial uncertainty concerning the impacts the warming will have on natural and human systems. Most importantly, however, there is uncertainty about whether or not we, individually and collectively, should try to slow it down, and at what, and whose, cost. The nature and long-term consequences of these uncertainties will be discussed.
