The Honourable Flora MacDonald will be speaking at The University of Winnipeg on Wednesday, March 17, on her humanitarian work in Afghanistan, in a free public lecture. Everyone is welcome to attend.

This event is presented by The University of Winnipeg’s Global College and the Winnipeg Branch of the Canadian International Council.

Ms. MacDonald works with Future Generations Canada’s development projects in Afghanistan, which focus on stimulating and encouraging self-sufficiency on the part of the Afghan people.

Biography:

The Honourable Flora Macdonald was first elected to the House of Commons in 1972. She remained in parliament until her defeat in the 1988 election. In 1979 Joe Clark made MacDonald the first female Secretary of State for External Affairs in Canadian history, and one of the first female foreign ministers anywhere in the world. Since 1988, MacDonald has devoted her time to international humanitarian work.
