The University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA), UWinnipeg Womyn’s Centre, the Institute of Women’s and Gender Studies and Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art (MAWA) celebrate International Women’s Day with a public lecture tonight by celebrated author Inga Muscio. In her public speaking engagements, she focuses on subjects of feminism, environmentalism, racism, gender issues, and sexual and family violence.

Muscio will speak about how violence towards women, racism and environmental destruction are all inter-related. She will also try to show people how they can hold both themselves and their culture accountable for the violence and destruction abided by in society.

Muscio is highly respected and celebrated within feminist communities, and has empowered countless young women. Prior to Muscio’s lecture, a representative from MAWA will speak and the Winnipeg radical cheerleaders will perform.
