Jane’s Walk In Riverview On May 4

The ever-popular Jane’s Walk is back and University of Winnipeg urban expert Jino Distasio is leading a tour through his neighbourhood, Riverview. Everyone is welcome to explore Winnipeg’s hidden gems in these free tours which take place this coming weekend.

Riverview is the true centre of Winnipeg and the capital of Fort Rouge. Walk through the last 100 plus years of interesting characters and places that have made this neighbourhood a classic Jane’s place. From its early days as a transportation hub, to becoming one of Winnipeg’s premier entertainment destinations, Riverview has a unique story. Join, lifelong “Rouger” and urbanist, Jino Distasio on a walk that highlights his 40 plus years of living the South Osborne dream.

jinoAbout your walk leader:

Jino Distasio is a lifelong Riverview resident. His day job is teaching and researching urban issues at The University of Winnipeg’s Institute of Urban Studies. For over 15 years, he has taught courses on urban development and city planning issues. A key area of interest includes looking at what makes neighbourhoods like Riverview great.
