It’s an exciting time for those of us who teach, study, and conduct research in the area of Kinesiology, and who coach, plan, and lead athletic programming at The University of Winnipeg. What began with a few courses fifty years ago is today the Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health.
Please join us as we ”Celebrate a New Era” and the naming of the Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health at two events on November 3rd, 2014:
- The unveiling of new signage at 12:30 p.m. on Spence Street by the Duckworth Centre and the United Health & RecPlex; and
- A fundraising dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the RBC Convention Centre.
The dinner will honour Dr. Daya Gupta and Dr. Chander Gupta’s lifelong commitment to health and wellness. Their donation to our campus dovetails with the opening of the new, state-of-the-art United Health & RecPlex. This $40M, 189,000 square foot, multi-sport complex will accommodate a variety of sports, classes, and cultural events. In addition, it will house numerous research activities, including the Great-West Life Healthy Campus and Research Centre, the Heads Up Concussion Research Institute, among other projects and initiatives related to health and well-being. Research and excellence, and the practical application of health and wellness, is an important part of the Gupta Family’s vision for our Faculty.
I invite you to participate in our inaugural Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health Fundraising Dinner. All funds raised will go towards the Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health – Dean’s Future Fund. You may purchase your table/tickets or participate as a sponsor for the dinner by visiting our website at www.wesmen.ca and selecting the “Research and Excellence Dinner” button, or by completing this Order Form and Information Brochure (PDF) and mailing or faxing it back to us.
Sincerely,
Dr. David Fitzpatrick, Dean
