Krykewich Named To Team Manitoba Coaching Staff

Wesmen Baseball head coach Mike Krykewich has been involved in baseball for more than 30 years. Krykewich will be putting his experience to good use next week as one of the assistant baseball coaches for Team Manitoba at the upcoming Canada Summer Games taking place in Sherbrooke, Quebec from
August 1 – 10.

Coaching at the games is nothing new to Krykewich as he will be coaching in his fourth Canada Summer Games. He served as an apprentice coach in 1997, head coach in 2005 and assistant coach in 2009.

“I am very much looking forward to the Canada Summer Games experience and most importantly guiding our players during the competition to accomplish our team goals”. said Krykewich.

Krykewich has coached at virtually every level from Rally Cap all the way through to Manitoba’s Selects Team for the Canada Cup. He has also been involved with the game internationally as he has taken teams to Cuba, attended the World Children’s Baseball Fair, traveled to England to introduce the sport to kids as part of Major League Baseball International and coached with the Women’s National Team.

Krykewich is currently entering his third season as head coach of the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Men’s Baseball team. He was awarded the Lionel Ruhr Memorial Coach of the Year Award in 2011.
