Lend your voice to campus sustainability

Have a great idea for how to improve UWinnipeg’s campus sustainability? Stop by Riddell Hall next week and lend your voice to campus sustainability. Take part in the open consultation sessions for the University’s new institutional sustainability strategy and help us create a strategy we can be proud of.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in one or both of the sessions happening on Thursday, November 3, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., and Friday, November 4, from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided for consultation participants. Please RSVP a.lajoie-omalley@uwinnipeg.ca to ensure enough food is ordered.

These consultation sessions are part of an engagement-strategy launched by UWinnipeg’s Campus Sustainability Office earlier this fall. The office has also been gathering input through a “Speaking Tree” — an art project located in Riddell Hall that asks participants to write sustainability suggestions on paper leaves and attach them to the tree — as well as a sustainability survey and written submissions.

In addition to all of the feedback collected, the Sustainability Office will be reviewing environmental policies and compiling data on best practices throughout North America. Results from the engagement efforts will be posted online at the end of November and a final sustainability strategy and policies will be presented to the Board of Regents in March.
