The University of Winnipeg is pleased to welcome back Dr. Lloyd Axworthy on October 16 at 12:30 p.m. for a special book launch of his new memoir, Lloyd Axworthy: My Life in Politics (Sutherland House).
Faculty, staff, students, and alumni are invited to join Dr. Axworthy for an intimate conversation about his new book and life in public service. The event will be hosted live in Convocation Hall with doors opening at noon. A book signing will follow the event, with books available for purchase.
In his stirring and beautifully written memoir, Dr. Axworthy tells the unlikely story of a Canadian prairie boy raised in the Social Gospel tradition becoming a prominent force in both national and international politics. After studying politics at Princeton at the height of John F. Kennedy’s Camelot, and marching for civil rights in Alabama, he returned to Canada and embarked on an illustrious political career at the height of Trudeaumania. Dr. Axworthy served as MLA in the Manitoba Legislature for six years followed by 21 years in the House of Commons.
