WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg is now in the Top-5 for overall reputation and ranks 10th overall in Canada among primarily undergraduate universities in the Annual Maclean’s Ranking of Canadian Universities released today. UWinnipeg placed in the Top-10 nationally in several important categories, including student services and student awards. Among the ranking increases, UWinnipeg placed 5th in the reputational survey category (up from 6th last year) and was once again ranked 1st in Western Canada.

“We are proud to be consistently ranked in the Top-10 universities in Canada, by both Maclean’s and the Globe and Mail newspaper,” said UWinnipeg President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lloyd Axworthy. “It is particularly significant that we are now in the Top-5 for overall reputation, since the survey is broad-based and encompasses the views of high-school principals and guidance counselors, heads of organizations, CEO’s and corporate recruiters across the country. UWinnipeg is working hard to create innovative and relevant academic programs and that effort is being recognized.”

Today’s results come on the heels of The Globe & Mail Canadian University Report 2011, released on October 25, 2010, where UWinnipeg ranked among Canada’s best for class size, diversity and innovative programs.

Here are some highlights from today’s Maclean’s rankings:
