A professor in the Department of Economics, Dr. Pandey has held several senior administrative roles since joining The University of Winnipeg in 2004, including Acting Dean of Graduate Studies; Acting Vice-President, Research and Innovation; and Chair, Department of Economics.

As Acting Associate Vice-President, International, Dr. Pandey continues to lead UWinnipeg’s international strategy while supporting international relations, recruitment, and retention priorities.

He works tirelessly to advance international opportunities for students and faculty; develop international agreements; and engage with faculty and staff to provide students with life-changing international experiences.

“Dr. Pandey is a respected academic, strategic thinker, and innovative leader with extensive research expertise and professional experience in global contexts. He plays a pivotal role in the continued growth of our international outreach and engagement, and I know he will bring this same energy and leadership to the Faculty of Graduate Studies,” said Dr. Jan Stewart, Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic.

“I would also like to thank Dr. Mavis Reimer, whose strong leadership has grown UWinnipeg’s graduate studies programs over the past eight years and also contributed to our commitment to academic excellence,” she said.

Dr. Pandey holds a Master in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi (1999), and a PhD in Economics from the University of Western Ontario (2005). His research has increased understanding of the reasons for differences in productivity across countries; the impact of trade openness on labour productivity, government size and corruption; the performance of immigrants in the Canadian labour market; and the public cost of mortgage interest deductibility for the US; among others.

As Acting Dean of Graduate Studies, Dr. Pandey will support and promote graduate education and research, foster excellence in graduate programs, and attract top national and international graduate students to a diverse range of interdisciplinary programs.
