Mental Health Week 2025

graphic image with text

May 5 to 11 is Mental Health Week (MHW) and this year, the University has added new events, activities, and social media content. You can find the event schedule, sign up for events, download activities, and access resources on our new web page.

This year’s theme, created by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), is Unmasking Mental Health. Learn more about unmasking in safe ways and creating social change that helps other safely unmask with CMHA’s toolkit and factsheets

UWinnipeg’s Wellness Center is reminding people that masking can be crucial for many valid reasons. Unmasking is not always something everyone should be doing in all settings and scenarios.

Each individual knows best what is appropriate for them and their current situation. You can learn more about masking throughout our MHW activities.

If you are in crisis please contact the Klinic crisis line at 204-786-8686, the Mobile Crisis Team at 204-940-1781, or call 911 for immediate care.

Week-long events

Mental Wellness Bingo

Download the UW Mental Wellness Bingo card. Follow the instructions and complete your card for a chance to win a wellness prize pack (valued around $100). Ends Friday, May 9 at 12 p.m.

There’s More to You!

Many of us hide parts of ourselves behind an invisible mask to shield us from judgement, discrimination, to appear “typical” or “fit in”. This can include our struggles with mental health, emotions, personality traits, and behaviours.

This project provides an opportunity to look beyond the surface, to the whole person behind the mask. If you could live honestly and with vulnerability without the pressures to hide, what would we see?

Download a blank silhouette or pick one up at the Wellness Centre (first floor, Duckworth Centre) and let your creativity and true self show! What colours, textures, shapes, images, and so much more, represent you as you are, unmasked?

Submit your project for a chance to win a wellness prize pack (valued around $100). Ends Friday, May 9 at 12 p.m.
