WINNIPEG, MB – University of Winnipeg President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lloyd Axworthy is pleased to announce that Dr. Glenn Moulaison has accepted the position of Dean of Arts for an initial five-year appointment at the University, effective July 1, 2012. Dr. Moulaison has been a member of The University of Winnipeg community since 2005, teaching in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, and has served in a number of roles, having been Acting Chair (2008-2009) and Chair (2009-2010) of the Department, and subsequently, Associate Dean and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts.

“We’re very excited to affirm Dr. Moulaison’s ongoing commitment to the Faculty of Arts, as his valued expertise and obvious passion for literature and languages exemplify why students choose to attend the University of Winnipeg,” said Axworthy. “We also recognize his leadership in encouraging the study of arts and humanities, which plays an important role in developing the leaders of tomorrow.”

“The Faculty of Arts is an exciting place, where scholars — professors and students alike — come together to teach, to research, to learn, and to serve,” said Dr. Moulaison. “Our job is to help construct the world that should be — by understanding the world that was and the world that just simply is. We do this job exceptionally well at The University of Winnipeg, and I am proud to continue to be a part of it.”

Prior to joining The University of Winnipeg, Dr. Moulaison spent seven years at the University of Lethbridge, in the Department of Modern Languages, and initially taught two years at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. His research interests include 19th-century poetry, French-Canadian and Acadian literature, literary criticism, and linguistic variation. He is currently working on a book-length manuscript on Arthur Rimbaud’s A Season in Hell.
